Use Me

Leviticus 8:22-24 Then Moses presented the other ram, which was the ram of ordination. Aaron and his sons laid their hands on the ram's head, and Moses slaughtered it. Then Moses took some of its blood and applied it to the lobe of Aaron's right ear, the thumb of his right hand, and the big toe of his right foot.

Moses applied the blood like this to Aaron and each of his sons. The application of the blood meant that God had the use and control of them; everything they heard, everything they did and everywhere they went. God had the use of their ears, hands, and feet.

Lord, I'm wondering why you didn't include their eyes and mouths? Those are two of the things we most need your help to control.

Lord, I want you to have the use of my ears, eyes, mouth, hands, and feet. I want you to have the use of every part of me and my whole being. I trust you to use me in any way you see fit. Even for the most glamorous and undignified of purposes. I love you, Lord! In Jesus' name, amen.

MEMORY VERSES
Christ Paid the Penalty
1 Peter 3:18
For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit.

Faith Muscles

John 2:5
But his mother told the servants, "Do whatever he tells you."

Jesus, I want to be ready and willing to do whatever you ask me to do. This ability comes from a complete trust in you. Help me to have that kind of trust in you. Help me to exercise the muscles of my faith so that it can be strong.
Then I will have the courage to do anything you want me to do. Even if it means being thrown into a fiery furnace, or a den of lions, or being stoned as Stephen was. In Jesus' name, amen.

MEMORY VERSES
2 Corinthians 4:15-17
All of this is for your benefit. And as God's grace reaches more and more people, there will be great thanksgiving, and God will receive more and more glory. That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are small and won't last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!
2 Corinthians 4:15-17

Romans 1:16 (NIV)
I am not ashamed of the Gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.
Romans 1:16 (NIV)

Help Me to be a Servant

Jeremiah 17:5
This is what the LORD says: "Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans, who rely on human strength and turn their hearts from the LORD."
Hosea 6:6

Romans 1:16 (NIV)
I am not ashamed of the Gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.
Romans 1:16 (NIV)

Matthew 20:26-28
"But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must become your slave. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his live as a ransom for many."

Lord, you desire truth in the innermost being, so I'm being brutally honest with myself here. I have a bad habit of wanting others to serve me, especially my family. Please help me to break this habit and be willing to serve my family instead. Please forgive me for my selfishness. Thank you for the example you gave us. Thank you for being willing to serve me! In Jesus' name, amen.

Fellowship in the Midst of Serving

Deuteronomy 33:26
There is no one like the God of Israel. He rides across the heavens to help you, across the skies in majestic splendor.
Deuteronomy 33:26

Isaiah 30:21 (NIV)
Whether you turn to the right or the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you saying, "This is the way, walk in it."
Isaiah 30:21 (NIV)

Romans 1:16 (NIV)
I am not ashamed of the Gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.
Romans 1:16 (NIV)

Luke 41-42 (NIV)
"Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed - or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her."

I can imagine Martha thinking that men just don't understand the many details that need to be attended to when you are not only having a group of people for a meal, but also staying with you. I don't think the point was that those things didn't need to be done. Of course they needed to be done or the meal would never be served and sleeping arrangements never made. But Martha didn't need to be getting so worked up over them. She was allowing herself to miss out on fellowshipping with Jesus even as she served.

I think there are times to sit quietly at Jesus' feet and there are times to fellowship with him even as we serve.

Perhaps Jesus had Martha sit down and calm down for a bit as he spoke. And then he could have gotten up and gone to the kitchen with her to help prepare and serve the meal. I love this picture of Jesus helping, no, showing us how to serve with a sweet attitude after we've spent time with HIM.

Lord, please help me to serve my family with a sweet attitude. Help me to know when it is time to just sit quietly at your feet and when it is time to fellowship with you in the midst of serving. In Jesus' Name, amen.
