The Framework for the Tabernacle and the Veil

Exodus 26:15-37

"The first step to make boards is to cut down trees, sever them from their earthbound roots, and strip them of all their branches. Likewise, to be transformed from sinners into saints, we must be cut loose from our carnal roots and be stripped of every tentacle that reaches out to embrace this world's system.

We must fall at Jesus' feet and submit to spiritual surgery. Only then can we be upright members of Christ's body. We need a heart transplant, like God promised to Israel:

From all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh." (Ezek. 36:25b, 26)."*

The veil which separated the Holy Place from the Holy of Holies represents Jesus' body. It was made from finely woven linen (white, Righteous One). It was embroidered with blue (Heavenly One), purple (Royal One), and scarlet (Suffering Servant). When Jesus' body died on the cross, the veil in the Temple was torn from the top down. Christ's death gave us full access to the Mercy Seat within the Holy of Holies.

I praise you, Jesus, for being willing to have your body ripped and torn to shreds, so that I would be able to find grace. Please continue your spiritual surgery on me and strip away every tentacle that reaches out to embrace this world's system. In Jesus' name, amen.
