Attitude Is Everything

Numbers 14:24

"But my servant Caleb has a different attitude than the others have. He has remained loyal to me, so I will bring him into the land he explored. His descendants will possess their full share of that land."

Lord, I want to have a different attitude like Caleb. I want to remain loyal to you. I know you are using the trials I'm going through to train me. Please help me to quickly learn the lessons you have for me.

Help me to patiently endure testing and temptation so that afterward I may receive the crown of life you promised to those who love you. James 1:12

Please let your favor rest on me and please establish the work of my hands. Psalm 90:17

I can only do this with your help, Lord. Without you I am helpless and powerless. But I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. Phil. 4:13

Lord, Don't Let Me Be Afraid of the Giants

Numbers 13:30

But Caleb tried to quiet the people as they stood before Moses. "Let's go at once to take the land," he said. "We can certainly conquer it!"

Lord, help me to trust in your power when I'm facing what looks like an impossible situation. Help me to have the kind of attitude Caleb and Joshua had. They knew that with you fighting for them, their enemies were only helpless prey.

Numbers 14:7-9
They said to all the people of Israel, "The land we traveled through and explored is a wonderful land! And if the Lord is pleased with us, he will bring us safely into the land and give it to us. It is a rich land flowing with milk and honey. Do not rebel against the Lord, and don't be afraid of the people of the land. They are only helpless pray to us! They have no protection, but the Lord is with us! Don't be afraid of them!"

Numbers 14:11
And the Lord said to Moses, "How long will these people treat me with contempt? Will they never believe me, even after all the miraculous signs I have done among them?"

Lord, don't let me treat you with contempt. Let me believe that you are fully able to handle any situation no matter impossible it seems. Lord, this situation at work seems pretty impossible. We don't seem to be able to find the information we need to contact the right people to send our samples to and keep this business afloat. Lord, you know who those people are. Please help us to find the information we need. You know what my father-in-law has sacrificed to make this business succeed. But Lord, if it's your will for this business to fail in order to get through to him, then so be it. Help me to trust you, no matter what!

You have lead me to a brand new season in my life. Help me to trust you as you lead me to this new land you have for me. Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander and my faith will be made stronger! Don't let me fear the giants that are standing in my way. Let me keep my eyes above the waves! Yes, Lord, I know that I am mixing metaphors here, but I know that you understand. In Jesus' powerful name, amen. <3

Lord, I'm Like a Three Year Old!

Numbers 12:6-8

And the Lord said to them, "Now listen to what I say: If there were prophets among you, I, the Lord would reveal myself in visions. I would speak to them in dreams. But not with my servant Moses. Of all my house, he is the one I trust. I speak to him face to face, clearly, and not in riddles! He sees the Lord as the is. So why were you not afraid to criticize my servant Moses?"

Lord, I want to know you like that! I want you to be able to say that you trust me. I feel like I'm so far from that, Lord! I seem to be more Aaron and Miriam and only the tiniest smidgen of Moses.

I get our of sorts and I complain and I want what I want and I throw 3 year old tantrums in my heart. Lord help me to learn to look to you and trust you even when things seem to be headed south. Help me to lean on you especially when I'm tired and feeling beaten up and frustrated. In Jesus' name, amen.

Do All Things Without Complaning

Numbers 11:4, 20, 23

4 Then the foreign rabble who were traveling with the Israelites began to crave the good things of Egypt. And the people of Israel also began to complain. "Oh, for some meat!" they exclaimed.
20 "You will eat it for a whole month until you gag and are sick of it. For you have rejected the Lord, who is here among you, and you have whined to him, saying, 'Why did we ever leave Egypt?' "
23 Then the Lord said to Moses, "Has my harm lost its power? Now you will see whether or not my word comes true!"

Wow! Lord, there is so much to chew on here!! I need to be careful what kind of people I choose to regularly associate with, "Bad company corrupts good character." 1 Corinthians 15:33

I need to keep my focus on what you have blessed me with and not on what I don't have. Allowing myself to dwell on what I don't have only breeds discontent which leads to whining and complaining. Philippians 2:14-15 Do everything without complaining and arguing, so that no one can criticize you. Live clean and innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people.

Lord, that is how I want to live! I don't want to be known as a complainer. I want to live a clean and innocent life as your child, shining like a bright light in this world full of crooked and perverse people.

When I do have a complaint, let me bring it to you with an attitude of knowing that you are the only one who can fix it. Philippians 4:6-7 Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

I can pour my complaints, worries, heartaches, anger and every other emotion out to you. In fact, you encourage me to! I can't infect you with my bad attitudes like I can other people. And more than that, other people can't help me to disinfect from my bad attitudes like you can. When I whine and complain to other people it's like I'm rejecting you and your power in my life. But when I pour it all out to you, your Holy Spirit comes and cleans up all the muck I've accumulated with my bad attitudes.

Lord, thank you for this very practical and timely word. Please help me to "look carefully into the perfect law that sets me free, and do what it says and not forget what I heard, then you will bless me for doing it." James 1:25 In Jesus' name, amen. <3

I Want to Live in Your Presence, Lord

Numbers 10:34-35

As they moved on each day, the cloud of the Lord hovered over them. And whenever the Ark set out, Moses would shout, "Arise, O Lord, and let your enemies be scattered! Let them flee before you!"

Lord, I need your presence to go with me everyday too. I need you to scatter your enemies from before me, especially my sinful nature and any other voices besides yours. I want people to be able to say, "The Lord is with her." I only want to go where you are leading me. Lord, when I'm tempted to run off to explore on my own please remind me that the only safe paths are the ones you direct me to.

Lord, would you please make this cold go away? Maybe it has turned into a sinus infection, but I'm hurting. My ears hurt and my face and neck hurt. I did tell you that I'm yours to use as you please, but it sure would be nice to not be so miserable. I still love you whether you choose to heal me or not.

Lord, on this lovely Thanksgiving Day, I want to praise you for all the wonderful ways you have blessed me this year:
  • My revitalized walk with you.
  • Another wonderful year with my hubby, (our 22nd Anniversary is tomorrow)
  • Watching my kids grow and mature into amazing young adults
  • My new friendships in Salt & Light (J my new BFF)
  • My new job
  • New opportunities
  • New challenges
Thank you for blessing me in so many ways!! I don't deserve all the blessing and grace and mercy that you shower down on me daily. I love you!! In Jesus' name, amen. <3

The Trumpet Will Sound

Numbers 10:1-2

Now the Lord said to Moses, "Make two trumpets of hammered silver for calling the community to assemble and for signaling the breaking of camp."

Lord, that is so cool! You used trumpets to tell the Israelites when to assemble and when to move. Those who know and love you will have the same trumpet signal when it's time for us to "break camp" to go spend eternity with you.

1 Corinthians 15:52
It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will also be transformed.

And it won't be just any trumpet! It will be a SILVER trumpet. Silver speaks of redemption. At that very moment when the trumpet is blown and we are transformed, we will finally be fully redeemed. No more struggling against our sinful nature anymore for all eternity! Hallelujah!! Thank you, Lord!! I can't wait to hear that trumpet sound! In Jesus' name, amen. <3

Let's Celebrate Our Escape From Slavery!

Numbers 9:2-3

"Tell the Israelites to celebrate the Passover at the prescribed time, at twilight on the fourteenth day of the first month. Be sure to follow all my decrees and regulations concerning this celebration."

This celebration was a commemoration of the Israelites' escape from slavery in Egypt. God wanted them to follow his instructions because everything in this celebration points to Yeshua's death on the cross.

Then at his last Passover, Yeshua instituted a new celebration to commemorate our escape from slavery to sin. The Passover was no longer necessary because the event it was pointing to was eminent. The Passover looked forward to Yeshua. Communion looks back at his death with thankfulness and praise, while also looking forward to his soon return.

Lord, help me to celebrate my escape from slavery to sin everyday, whether with communion or not. I can celebrate by living for you and striving to always follow the direction of your Holy Spirit.

Please guide and direct me today. Help me to make the most of the short time you have given me here on this earth. I love and praise you! In Jesus' name, amen. <3

The Lord is Watching Over Those Who are Fully Committed to Him

Numbers 8:1-2

The Lord said to Moses, "Give Aaron the following instructions: When you set up the seven lamps in the lampstand, place them so their light shines forward in front of the lampstand."

Lord, it seems important that the lamps were facing the right way. You made a special point to tell Moses this, both here and in Exodus 25:37. What is the significance of this?

The oil used in the lamps speaks of your Holy Spirit and the light represents Jesus Christ. In Zechariah 4 the prophet is shown a lampstand with seven lamps. An angel tells him, ""It is not by force nor by strength, but by my Spirit,' says the Lord of Heaven's Armies." Zechariah 4:6

It also says in Zechariah 4:10 that the seven lamps represent the eyes of the Lord that search all around the world. In 2 Chronicles 16:9 it says, "The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him."

I think the lamps were situated in this way to remind us that you are watching over us. You are looking to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to you. If I am trusting in anything other than you, then my heart is not fully committed to you. Jeremiah 17:5 This is what the Lord says: "Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans, who rely on human strength and turn their hearts away from the Lord."

Lord, help me to be FULLY committed to only YOU!! Don't let me rely on anything else. You are the ONLY one with the power to save and keep me!

Thank you, Lord, for the picture of the lampstand. Thank you for showing me what it represents. Please help me to never forget. I love that you are watching out to strengthen those who are fully committed to you. I sure need that strength! I praise your Holy Name!! In Jesus' name, amen. <3

I Get to Hear From HIM

Numbers 7:89

Whenever Moses went into the Tabernacle to speak with the Lord, he heard the voice speaking to him from between the two cherubim above the Ark's cover - the place of atonement - that rests on the Ark of the Covenant. The Lord spoke to him from there.

Moses is the only one who had the privilege of hearing from you from the place of atonement. In fact, other than Adam, he's the only person who got to hear your actual voice on a regular basis. You did have a lot of very specific instructions, not to mention the entire law, to give to Moses. I can only imagine the notes he must have taken!

We can hear from you as well. Just not in the same way. You use your word and the Holy Spirit to speak to us. All I have to do is spend time with you. I have the awesome privilege of hearing from you any time I need!

Thank you, Lord, for your word and for your Holy Spirit to guide me and help me understand your word. I can't wait to see you face-to-face and hear your voice in person. I love you!! In Jesus' name, amen. <3

Let Me Be Set Apart For YOU, God!

Numbers 6:1-4

Then the Lord said to Moses, "Give the following instructions to the people of Israel. 'If any of the people, either men or women, take the special vow of a Nazirite, setting themselves apart to the Lord in a special way, they must give up wine and other alcoholic drinks. They must not use vinegar made from wine or from other alcoholic drinks, they must not drink fresh grape juice, and they must not eat grapes or raisins. As long as they are bound by their Nazirite vow, they are not allowed to eat or drink anything that comes from a grapevine - not even the grape seeds or skins.' "

This vow was a way for people to set themselves apart to serve YOU exclusively. It required a huge commitment. No alcohol or even anything from a grapevine for the duration of the vow. Alcohol and wine cloud the judgement so it makes perfect sense that these would be prohibited.

They were also not allowed to cut their hair or shave their beards. The hair was a symbol of their separation to God. Lord, why did you choose hair as the symbol?? I guess it showed that they were not spending time on themselves but totally devoting their time to you. I like the way Matthew Henry says it:  "This signified neglect of the body, and of the ease and ornament of it. Those who separate themselves to God, must keep their consciences pure from dead works, and not touch unclean things. All the days of their separation they must be holy to the Lord."

Basically a Nazirite was someone who was "all-in" for God. I want to be that kind of person! I want people to be able to see my life and know that I am set apart for YOU, God; that I live in a way that is drastically different from the world.

Lord, I love that you called this a Nazirite vow. I can't seem to find anything that tells me a special meaning for this word. However, there is a striking resemblance between Nazirite and Nazarene. My Savior was a Nazarene and I strive to follow his example.

Lord, help me to live this kind of life for you deserve nothing less from me! In Jesus' name, amen. <3
