Lord, YOU are my special possession!

Deuteronomy 18:2-5

"They will have no land of their own among the Israelites. The Lord himself is their special possession, just as he promised them. These are the parts the priests may claim as their share from the cattle, sheep, and goats that the people bring as offerings: the shoulder, the cheeks, and the stomach. You must also give the priests the first share of the grain, the new wine, the olive oil, and the wool at shearing time. For the Lord your God chose the tribe of Levi out of all your tribes to minister in the Lord's name forever."

Lord, when we allow you to become our special possession, you make sure that every one of our needs are met. You told the people of Israel to give the Levites grain, wine, olive oil, and wool in addition to the meat from the offerings. This gave them bread, drink, oil (which was used for many things including light), and clothing.

When we make you our special possession, we become your extra special possession.

He chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word. And we, out of all creation, became his prized possession. James 1:18

Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can't take anything with us when we leave it. So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content. 1 Timothy 6:6-8

"Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. Joshua 1:8

Lord, help me to make you my special possession by making you the most important thing in my life.
Help me to deny myself so I can say YES to you!
Especially when my sinful nature is pitching a hissy fit and screaming and pouting for its own way. That is when I most need to deny myself, when it is the hardest. But that is when the reward will be the greatest. I love you! In Jesus' name, amen. <3
